Flying from Newark

Flying from Newark

One of the best-kept transportation secrets amongst Swatties who know, Newark International Airport (EWR) consistently offers better fares than our very own Philly International (PHL).  Not only that, but of all the major alternative airports, it's the closest and the cheapest.  So what are you waiting for?  Check out prices from Newark and consult these handy directions for getting there:

1) Take the SEPTA R3 from Swat to any Center City stop.  Then, switch to the R7 line and take a train outbound to Trenton.  Be sure to ask for a trip to Trenton when buying your tickets at Swat - it's cheaper than buying each leg separately!  (Time: 1-1/2 hours, Cost: $14 - roundtrip)

2) In Trenton, you will be directed to exit your SEPTA train and walk forwards to an NJ Transit train (Northeast Corridor Line) waiting for you.  If you have time, buy a ticket at the station, since they may charge you an additional fee if you purchase the ticket on the train.  Hop off the train at the Newark International Airport Station and be sure to hold onto your ticket, which is needed for the next step.  (Time: 1 hour, Cost: $15 - roundtrip)

3) At the station, board an AirTran train to the airport.  If you want, you can even check in for your flight at the train station.

(Time: 2-1/2 hours, Cost: $30 - roundtrip)

Have a great flight!
